Default Installing RSX Type S Tranny in 4th gen lude?

I read about this f20b having a rsx tranny installed. What are the possibities of installing a JDM Long Block H22A1to the RSX Type S Tranny. Both tranny's are FWD. Any ideas or suggestions to this project?

one problem dude, the k20 has the transmission on the driver side, so you'll have a differential sticking out into the front bumper.

It would be easier to swap a whole k setup.

or get a transmission adapter and flip the engine around 180˚. that would require custom mounts, custom shift linkages, custom header/exhaust, lots of firewall and hood cutting/reshaping, maybe some axles...

Try it. I want to see a new Prelude build thread with regualr updates.

You would also have to grind "DOHC VTEC" off the valve cover and re-do it the right way.

Custom throttle cable, shitload of extended wires on the harness, and I don't think that trans would even fit with the front crossmember in there, from what I've seen they're pretty big.

Do it. I wanna see too.

I never thought about if the tranny would work spinning the other way. I thought I remember reading about a some company that built a twin turbo H22 and made it spin the other way and flipped the motor 180 for some odd reason. I can't seem to find a shred of information about it... it was years ago

I dont think there would be 1 forward and 6 reverse gears since K engines rotates clockwise and H engines counterclockwise than "only" swapping tranny should be OK, it would still rev right direction....

Actually you're right, but there is one problem with leaving it like that, lol the differential would be in front of the engine. That would be a hell of an axle.

That's why I said that you'd be hacking on the firewall. Could not be any worse than the "Civette" Hatchback I've seen vids of. Swap it and the rest can be buffed out. lol.

What if instead of using the h22 I installed the f20b would the axles match up?

No. Just keep your H series tranny, buy a k20 and do the entire swap, or buy a si/rsx/s2000. Forget this topic.

that's about impossible...
the article you linked above stated it bolts up to an f20c... the s2k engine...
i doubt it bolts up to an f20b...

and even if it did... dont k-series engines turn the other way?

f20b comes from an accord sir. and yes it will bolt up, but is basically the same as an h22a4 tranny.

a 99-01 euro-r would also work, and its about as close as your going to get to a type-s tranny gearing.
