I am burning major OIL!!!
I know this isnt an ITR but you guys are the quickest to respond, I have put a little over 1000 miles since my last oil change and last nite my CEL came on and couldnt get anything after 5000 rpm, I just checked my OIL and there was nothing on the dipstick, and there was alot of smoke coming from the exhaust. DO you know what this might be?

Can you give us any more details? How many miles on the car? Is your only mod the DAC? It's hard to say based on the information you provided. Cars burn oil if seals are bad, if piston rings go bad, if cylinder walls wear down or get scored, or if your car runs really rich.

If it's burning out of the exhaust pipe, it's either bad rings, or bad valve guides... Those are the two main points of exit for oil.... When does it smoke in realation to first starting the car up, acceleration? Deceleration? The way to tell will be to do a compression test, and a leak down test..
ya my car is burning oil bad too, when I checked my spark plugs, there was a little oil on plug #2, is this a sign of a bad valve seat? or blown piston ring? my maintenence light came on too, so i guess I'll have to check it out when i go home for the summer.

yes, ... good advice given already....compression & leakdown....i think at this point leakdown is pretty obvious as of results.... compression test is your friend
Well maybe switching to a thicker oil (10w-30) and not using Mobil1 will slow down the rate at which your oil is burning. Mobil1 has a tendancy to burn at a very fast rate.
Sounds like the valve guides... When the engine is cool, and the oil has a chance to settle, the oil will tend to seep past the guides. So when you start you get smoke, but when running, the oil doesn't have a chance to get by the guides as much... Very loose theory..
your CEL comes on for a reason, if you tell us the code, we tell you the problem
It the same as last time I had the problem, I forget the code but it was a Vtec problem
The CEL prolly came on for low oil pressure cause of the leak.
Do a compression check. If all the numbers are with in a couple percent of each other, right around 195 or so, then your rings and valves are ok. The oil is comming from the valve guides. Run a thicker oil, some Valvoline Max Life 10w30, and see if that helps the problem...

To check the check engine light, go to your passenger seat and pull out the service check connector, im assuming you have done it before, and either use a paperclip or a wire and connect it like you would any other plug, and turn you key to the on position, watch for the blinks, slow blinks accounts for the first set of numbers, fast blinks account for the second number, so if it blinks slow four times then fast 5 times, thats a code 4 5 and etc.

I just called Honda service and the guy told me that its probably because I use VTEC to much, I asked if I rings could be bad and he said probably not.
Did you do the last oil change? If you took it to a quick lube place, are you sure they gave you enough oil? They could have shorted you by 0.5-1.0 quarts. That might explain why you got so low so quickly.
