Lowering Negative Camber Can Be Corrected By A Camber Kit? Please Help. Thanks
I bought a 1995 Prelude Vtec that has been lowered. I took the car to a mechanic (kinda speaks English) and he said I needed to replace the whole suspension, coils, and struts to stock. He showed me the tire wear due to negative camber. However, I read about a Camber kits. Can that fix my tire wear problem? Will it fit onto my stock suspension system?
I really appreciate your help. Thanks.
I really appreciate your help. Thanks.
why do you havta change the whole suspension back to stock b/c your tires wear uneven? sounds dumb and yes a camber kit will correct your issues
SPC makes sliding ball joints for the front and rear control arms and they will correct camber from -4 degrees to +4 degrees...only drawback to these is they tend to hit the shock towers if you are lowered too much or if you hit an extreme hole. there are other types such as the ingals kit which replaces the pivot bolts at the rear of the control arm (2 per control arm) and they will do basically the same thing w/o hitting the towers....
All of these can be bought at http://www.nopi.com or http://www.prostreetonline.com and many other web stores...go to the sponsor classifieds here on honda-tech and browse around for a good deal

thanks a lot!!!!
i went to prostreetonline. i didn't see any camber kits for the prelude specifically. However, the 95 del sol has the same double wishbone suspension. Should it fit?
I would really appreciate it if you could send me the link to one that would fit. THANKS A LOT.

yeah those are the same thing that I posted the link to , only at a better price...
They are pretty easy to install...
-pull off upper control arms
-find 2 blocks of wood to place under the control arm
-get a big *** hammer (5lb.) and hit the ball joint on the threaded end until it pops out.
-install new sliding ball joints and go get an alignment ASAP

U said ingalls might be a better buy(lack of hitting). What do you think of these? THANKS

do not buy the upper ball joint replacement! ive seen alot of holes in strut towers because of them...and they tend to slip. the kit that replaces the pivots is the **** man. get your hands on that one. probably would run .5 to 1 hour per side at a shop. plus the alignment

I had the SPC ball joints on my Ej2 for 3 years and never had one slide and I drive on some pretty shady roads...not saying it could'nt happen but it would be unlikely if the nut was secured to the suggested torque spec in the instructions.

if they slide it would take it out of alignment...if they slide inward it would create negative camber and if they slide outward it would create positive camber...
and the ingals kit would be the one that replaces the pivots on the upper control arms...that nopi link I posted has them at the bottom of the page.

Those will work ,but remember that these are known to hit the shock towers and wear holes in the metal...
I would personally go with the pivot bolt style , but I think we are all waiting on the ingals upper control arms to become available...they are in development right now as far as I know...these would be simular to the skunk2 control arms for civics...

Thank you soo much. You have been such a help.
I have one stupid question. Since I have an oil leak form an unknown area, the mechanic asked me to spray down the engine with pressurized water so he would get a better look at wear the oil is coming from. I did that, then ran it. Engine light came on. Is spraying the engine then running it bad for the engine(I think I remeber my brother in law telling me never to do that). Mechanic said the light should turn off after a couple miles.

Those apparently only work on rear
The mechanic also said I would need something that would correct for something around 2.8.

Damn, I don't want to break anything (damage towers). I am on a tight budget. Would raising the car, which i don't really want to do, return it to normal camber? I could use one of these

sometimes water will accidently get in the sensor harness connections and can temporarily set a code. seen it a few times. you have to be careful to spray around sensors and connectors, never spray directly on them. they all have seals in them, but they are only resistant, not water proof. i sprayed a yota p/u once for a power steering leak, and when i got done, the cruise light was flashing like a drunk bitch @ marti gras. couple hours later, all was well.
