dead dizzy/broken timingbelt/battery???
i have a stock 1992 SI so thats a d16z6.
i was going to go to the beach with my girlfriend, put it in reverse backed up 5 feet and it died. tried to turn it on, it will crank but wont start up. after 30 min of it not turning over we went in her car. i bought a new dizzy from a person on here who claims it works and it still didnt turn over when i installed it. the timing belt looks fine! i really have no clue wtf is wrong.

I would check the timing first, then listen for the fuel pump when you turn on the car. But my money is on the timing. Good luck.
the fuel pump turns on, i hear it, the teeth on the timing belt looks good, it does seem to crank alittle fast now that i think of it. im not getting spark though.

no spark start looking at the dizzy......................ignitor, coil, and if the belt has moved it will cause it to fire at the wrong time.align all of your timing marks up and make sure that they are in time.
before you said it would turn over, but now it does! what have you done to get it to turn over? and if it is turning over faster now, and you have your timing belt covers on all you have to do is unscrew yoiu oil fill cap and have someone turn the motor over while you look into the fill cap. if nothing is movin then you prolly got a broke belt. if the rockers are moving id go with the dizzy
good luck

Start with checking your coil for power with the key in the on position it could be getting power but its the negative side that activates it. No power=bad wires no signal to the negative on the coil=bad ignitor.

Yes, but I had assumed he already checked the belt since he said it "looked good."

hey im having the same problem with my car theres no spark so i bought a brand new distributor for it. my timing is advanced so i was wondering if that could cause something to go wrong.
