timing issues *searched*
i just finished up the auto to manual tensioner conversion on my h22a and im having issues getting it timed right.. ive got the belt on a few times, but theres been slack in it everytime.. almost like the belt is stretched, then i have tried to get it back on, and its too tight to put on even with loosening the tensioner all the way.. does anyone have any tips on how to do this? from what ive read in the past topics, its a bitch to do, and right now its giving me fits. also, any help on getting the timing set right would be appreciated as well. thanks guys

exactly.. I just accomplished this project. I put the belt on the bottom crank first and then came up over the exhaust then intake cam and then around the water pump. then made sure there was no slack in the belt and then slid the manual tensioner off the bolt and put the belt on the tensioner then slid it back over the bolt and into postion. I believe this works best. but to each his own. good luck

side note, im pretty sure im getting the motor in time but let me tell you what im looking at you tell me if im wrong....
line the marks up on the crank, and the arrows on the cam sprockets should be pointed straight up and in the middle of of the cam caps... right?

thats right. but once you get it on. make sure they are still in the same postion. once your there. you loosen the manuel tensioner bolt and turn then crank counter clockwise 3 or 4 cam gear teeth and then that will take the slack out of the line and tigten the belt down. once you've done that tighten the manual tensioner back down and your set to go
