clutch died?
yes i've searched...didnt help...well i was driving then suddenly...when i stepped on the clutch, the pedal went all the way down and got stuck, so i pulled it out and tried pressing the clutch again and drive normally, it worked for another block then it went out again. I was lucky i was near home so i some how drove home in 2nd gear...but when i got to my driveway...so anyway...anyobdy have any idea what happened?
Usually when that happens the clutch slave cylinder is bad. The seals blow out and they leak fluid. Take a look at it, and pull on the boot over the piston too, there might be fluid inside of it.
If the slave isn't leaking/bad, your brake master cylinder is probably bad. However, before making that diagnosis check for leaks in the hydraulic lines.

thx but....im a total idiot in cars so...pics would be great! by the way...i have a d16z6 with some sort of a aftermarket clutch (i bought the car with it...the previous owner said it was a racing clutch...he didnt say wat brand...)
I had the same problem with mine last friday and most likely the slave cylinder is bad or you need to bleed it, it turned out that I had a bad slave cylinder but there were no leaks anywhere it was sucking in air.

Even if we gave you pics, being a total idiot in cars wouldn't help you to get the part and fix it yourself. Take the car to your local shop and tell them your situation. Tell them your slave might be busted. They'll take a look, order the proper part, and fix it for you, problem solved.
On the other hand, it may save some time/money spent on labor if we let you know where it was, huh? I don't have a picture, but I do have a recollection of where everything is in the car.
Pop your hood, and look directly at the front side of your engine, to your left of the header. It's on the front side of the engine there (actually on the transmission), a little contraption with a rubber boot on it, the casing about the same size across as your four fist knuckles (seems vague, but you get it). Should be obvious if you continue to look directly behind your radiator. Google image search "civic slave cylinder," and you'll easily be able to identify it.

Don't buy that.
Spend the money and get new OEM or remanufactured. Buying one bad afterrmarket part after another will only make you wish that you bought a new or reman OEM Nissin part to begin with.
I don't recommend replacing the clutch slave cylinder without also replacing the clutch master cylinder. When one fails and is replaced, the other typically fails soon after due to sediment dislodging and/or damaging seals while bleeding the hydraulic system. Gravity or vacuum bleeding can help to avoid this, but don't be surprised if the master fails once you replace the slave.

Boy, I couldn't tell you. But local shops usually deal with NAPA, and get their parts delivered same day. Talk to a shopowner about what you'd need to replace a slave cylinder on your car, and they should have the proper parts sent in.
ok so...the other day, the mechanic helped me replace the clutch slave cylinder, and it still had the same problem, and the clutch slave cylinder was broken too, so he looked at the master cylinder and it was broken too, so i went and got the replacement part fort that, he says it still isn't working right. He can only speak spanish and i don't understand spanish, but my friend translated for me, but he didn't know how to say the word in english, but i THINK he was talking about the pressure plate or something...he said something about the clutch not being able to grab on to something and it wont change gears, u guys have any idea of its the pressure plate?
He's fired. Get a mechanic that speaks english.
Not to be hard on the guy or anything, but IMO, it's not worth my business if I need an interpreter to figure out what the mechanic is telling me I need to do with my car. It may just be me, but I like to hear things straight from the horse's mouth (and understand them) if it's a problem concerning my baby, you know?
The problem is still boggling. If it is indeed a worn out pressure plate (ie: broken/tired teeth), then it'd have to be really old i think, but it could be possible. I'm sorry this hasn't turned out to be as simple as a slave/master cylinder.

Your problem has nothing to do with the pressure plate. It's either the clutch slave or the clutch master cylinder or, and this is a HUGE improbability, a hole in the lines connecting the two. This is a fluid pressure problem plain and simple. Make sure the system is properly bled, bench bleed both cylinders before installation, etc.
Good luck.
Good luck.
i already replaced both mater cylinder and slave cylinder, i think he was bleeding it, he was pumping the clutch and i was looking at where the slave cylinder is and brake fluid was flying out of there (black brake fluid) so we poured some more brake fluid where the master cylinder is, and kept bleding it and we still didnt get the pressure response
