Default gas tank replacement

I have a '92 SI that needs a new gas tank. I took it in to a shop and they did what they could to patch it up but right now its sitting in my driveway with a bucket under it...

What I need to know is, if I went to a junkyard, is the gas tank for the 92-95 cars interchangable among body styles? Where I am, at least, it is very uncommon to find a hatch in a junkyard, much less an si, but can i take a tank off of a sedan or coupe. Also, do different spec levels, dx, ex, si etc, have different tanks?

according to alldata, all 1992-1995 gas tanks have the same capacity (11.9 gallons), but different part numbers between the CX/VX and DX/SI model hatches. BUT the DX/SI hatch shares the same part number as the 4 door and 2 door civics.

so as long as its not a tank from a CX/VX, i don't see any issues. hope that helped.

good luck!

Gas tanks at most junk yards are drilled and gas removed/syphoned. Yes, they probably realize they have drain plugs, but this is faster.
You will probably need to find a local seller, who is parting out a civic.

^ agreed. I also think it's safe to assume that all of the tanks are compatible as the chassis are the same.
