Default Ques. on quarter panel fix on crusty crx

i was curious if anybody had replaced the quarters on their crx? i was wondering how much a PITA it was and if it is actually worth the money. what if you got a good deal on full quarters(back of door to signal light)?

the panels are pretty rusted out... up to around the gas tank filler door, other side is not so bad. i'm gonna get a qoute from a bodyshop today, i just wanted to see if anybody had experience w/this. any help at all would be appreciated! thanks.

oh, anybody fix(fill in) the flip up sunroof on these cars(88crx)? or just leave it?

Your car has flip-up sun-roof? I doubt that was a factory option.
I have no autobody repair skills but i can imagine its no harder than any other car. 1/4 panels dont ubolt like fenders, so its all cutting, welding, grinding, ect.
If you love your car id say go for it, but prolly for the price to get 2 new 1/4 panels installed and painted, you can buy another crx with a good body.
I paid 1200 bucks for my 89 si, good body, no rust, ww rs kit, but its primered.
Just remember, if you do it and mess it up, whos to blame? lol.

on my old crx, it wasnt that bad, but we cut out a big square where it was rusty, and welded in a new piece, grinded the weld down, painted. it came out great, and lasted the whole time i had the car, probably the same thing ill do with my civic, if i ever get around to it

Just so you know-the Mitchell book on this is around $1100 per side. Can be more. The rust will be completely gone from the outer panels and you get he chance to work on the inner ones while it is apart (more money). There are several sources for 1/4 panels including the genuine Honda parts. Whatever you decide-be sure to go as high up as you can on the sides.
Is it worth the expense-that is your call. I passed on a car from Delaware and went south-cost more to buy, but no rust-just hail and that was not cheap to fix. Then again I have a clean shell.
One other thing-if you elect to do any of it-get the DX roof panel and take the complete sunroof out. It is allowed for ITA and that will be worth the cost involved (panel lists for $304). One less source of aggravation and leaks.
Good luck.
