Default s2000 and aftermarket deck

did everyone have to remove the s2000 flip-plate the covers the stock deck when going aftermarket? which deck did you use (that can play mp3, and play cd-r/cd-rw, and hopefully, an ipod connection too) and still have the plate flip-up and close. i hear alpine is popular, but crutchfield warns me that the flip cover won't close if face plates are installed.

for those that had to remove it, did you have to install an aftermarket bracket around the front to make it cleaner, i.e. w/o the tabs of stock fascia and stuff.
