Help with Manual Transmission Question
sorry i know this might be s stupid *** question but i couldnt search for some reason. and i just want to reassure that the trannsmission could be a direct swap.
I have a 1988 Honda Civic LX sedan
D15B2 w/ Manual Transmission
1. Would any D series Transmission fit? and its a direct bolt right?
2. When taking out the transmission is the clutch attach to the engine or inside the transmission when i drop out the tranny?
any help would gladly be appriacated.

since you have 88 year model, only 88 CRX/Civic transmissions will work with the 88 clutch - any 88 model will work - 89-91 transmissions have different number of splines on the input shaft that goes into the clutch disc - if you have 89-91 transmission, you would need 89 clutch disc or 90-00 flywheel, 90-00 pressure plate and 90-00 clutch disc - the clutch assembly is bolted to the flywheel, which is bolted to the crankshaft and the clutch remains on the engine when you pull the transmission - the clutch release (throwout) bearing remains on the transmission
