ANYWAY, I need it replaced ASAP. I can't do it myself; I simply don't know how the hell to do it and neither do any of my friends. Is it possible that any parts of the clutch mechanism are salvageable so I can save some $$ or does it all have to be done at once? The dealer quoted me $835 for the whole shabang, and I don't really know what a fair price is. Can someone tell me what a good price for all the parts alone is, and then tell me what I could probably get it done for at a good shop or dealer. And if anyone knows any good mechanics in the CT area please give some recommendations
. Thanks a ton guys-Sean-

When a clutch is gone, a clutch is gone. Up to you if you want to go back to the dealer and get OEM. I'm not even sure the dealer would install aftermarket parts on a car, but I highly doubt they would. Dealers are a little costly so the price sounds about right. An aftermarket clutch + labor at a shop to have it installed may be a little less depending on the shop.

You mentioned aftermarket clutch....I know there's different "stages" and they have different performance advantages. My car is my daily driver, I never race it, and except for the ITR LSD my dad had the dealer put in to help for driving in the snow, the engine is BONE stock, straight down the air filter. All I plan on doing to it is I/E and maybe eventually a header if I ever to get my engine rebuilt. Is it worth it to buy an aftermarket clutch, are they tougher? I've heard they can strain the engine or transmission or something? I dunno much about it

They grip harder. For you, no. Stick with stock.

The stuff you quoted, I meant that my engine has a shitload of miles and I'm not gonna build it up unless I buy a new one or get mine rebuilt, and if I decide to that eventually then I might do more than just the intake and catback...prolly just a DC Sports 4-1 header. I don't want to put money into a car with that many miles because who knows how long it'll last.
New clutch ~$200-300 for something comparable to stock (PP+disk+bearing)
Labor ~$250 You should look for someone besides the dealer.. someone reputable
$800 is a bit overboard..
You might want to replace your main oil seal at the same time.
