Default power and torque loss with stock clutch?

currently, im running a jr supercharged b16a2 with stock clutch and flywheel. spoon cam gears, ctr cams, crower valves and valvesprings.

well you know how you hear some cars when they are shifting at high rpms, then you hear the tires kick? my car can never do that, and it seems like everytime i shift, it pauses then it grips on. i was wondering ,say if i changed the clutch, would the tires kick?

also would there be a major and noticeable power change? like you can actually notice a big difference if i changed the clutch to a stage 2 and a lighter flywheel like a ten pound.

it sounds like your stock clutch is struggling with the torque....

yes the tyres will probably kick, but more importantly the time wasted between shifts will be much less as the clutch will bite straight away so it will feel quicker

definitely worth doing

because ive been wondering how some civics I see on the streets get their tires to kick. ive also noticed some really bad low end torque below 2000 rpm. hmm so maybe a 2nd stage clutch and a 10lb flywheel should do the trick. im really hoping for a big improvement is torque and a better throttle response.

if your clutch is slipping really bad it would affect torque for sure

i have a stage 3 (6 puck no springs) in my fairly stock d16zc and it will bark 3rd at 60 mph with out reving the motor between gears. but be aware that a clutch like this is hard on motor mounts, can cause fatigue to the block where the motor mounts are bolted and will cause a lot of chatter with normal everyday driving( when slowly engaging the clutch, mainly from a stop.) Also, these clutchs don't last to long either, but then again neither will a stock one with a supercharger. Just keep in mind, if you want to play you will pay. Your car was designed to work with it oem parts, so when you change one item, many others will need to be replace to balance out the difference. Its a system and needs to be looked at as a system. Everything needs to work together.

I'm guessing by "kicking" you mean chirping as you shift gears. I'm also guessing that your car doesn't do that because you have a supercharged B16 which is very, very slow. A non-race SCed 1.6L motor shouldn't require more than an off-the-shelf stage 1 (if not just a healthy stock clutch) to put all that supermassive power to the wheels.
