My Honda would not start yesterday after work. It has not started on 4 occassions. The battery was checked by Sears yesterday and they said it was fine. The starter sounds fine as well with no seizing. The Sears guys told me that it may be electrical and that I should take it to an expert. A friend of mine told me that it sounded like a fuel pump or clogged fuel filter. I told him that it didn't have a fuel filter and he told me it may be in the gas tank itself. The car starts on the first crank all the time except on the 4 occasions. Any ideas or direction would be greatly appreciated.

A co-worker hooked up jumper cables and the car started on the first try after it would not start. When I drove to sears is it possible that the altenator charged the battery enough to pass the test? The battery doesn't seem to be bad because I cranked the car over 7 times with no sign of weakening battery?

Please email me with any ideas or if you have had this same issue it could narrow my search.

I am going to change the plugs & air filter & add some carburator cleaner this weekend.

A light bulb went out by the cassette player at the lower left by the three turn *****. What is involved with changing the bulb? My cassette player has also stopped working and honda told me to take it to a shop that specializes in this because it would be greatly expensive to have Honda do this?

The plugs were changed 2/06. but i will change them and go with the process of elimination.

You have a fuel filter.... but what is it doin besides just not starting?

The fuel filter is in the tank.

 

It sounds fine but it has 4 times before not started and the battery sounds strong. I was wondering if the battery is just strong enough to crank but not enough to start the car. I picked up some plugs & air filter and carburator cleaner which I am going to change and add this weekend. I made an appointment with Honda but they charge 100 bucks just to look at it. I think I may cancel and try the prior steps with plugs, air filter and carb claener.

 

Check the plugs, because odds are against a broken fuel pump.

 

Ya, if it's starting and not having problems any other time fuel probably isn't the cause... uhm and I'm not sure how much good carb. cleaner is gonna do but let me know if you find the carb. cus I can't seem to find mine, a picture would help lol j/k... see what the plugs do. My buddy has a silverado and his wouldn't start when it was wet out (bad plug seal) so check the old ones and see what kind of wear they have that can tell you a little bit about what's going on

 

My daughter's boyfriends car is having the same problem. I'm taking a look at it tonight. Did you figure out the problem?
