Default Clicking or Banging Noise Under Braking

This is a totally stock 02 Type S. The car has about 115K miles. This problem is relatively new - over the last couple of months.

Under braking (light, heavy - it doesn't matter) there is a very audible noise that occurs just once, it either presents as a "click" or a "bang". It sounds like metal on metal. It sounds like it's coming from the front end.

Again, it occurs just once under braking. Then if I accelerate away, and hit the brakes, it occurs once again. It does not occur when turning (unless turning combined with braking.) It really sounds like something is moving that's not supposed to.

I have gone over every bolt in the suspension/brakes. Everything is tight with no indication of movement.

I read in the ITR forum that axles can cause this kind of noise. Thoughts?

Have it check ASAP! My type s did the same thing. I had it check and it was the S/Frame coming loose. Had to re-torque the four bolts.
