I had blown out struts and when i would take a turn hard or hit a bump my tire would rub the fender plastic and it rubbed threw to the metal so i got a horrible sound when it would happen. So i just bought tokico illuminas and ground control coilovers and installed everything tonight. I have a one finger gap in the front and one in the back. Well my tire still rubs the fender!!!! Whats wrong???

 

How bad is it? When you're driving straight, taking a hard turn at higher speeds....? I still squeak my fenders when taking really hard turns with people in the back, and I'm only modestly dropped.

 

Nothing is wrong, it's just low. That's what I'm dealing with right now. I have about two finger gap with no one in the back. I think it would help if you rolled your fenders. That's what I've been trying to look up tonight. It doesn't seem hard but might hurt your paint. I don't care because I'm sanding/primering the car anyway right now.

Just like everyone else has said, roll your fenders and if you have to then raise it up a tad.

What are the size of your tires?

 

What size tire would be the better question. If it is only when you are turning try a shorter sidewall tire or a more narrow tire. Mine rubs when turning sharp.. mine is very low in the front. The tire is tucked alittle even when sitting still. My sidewalls are alittle tall for how much the car is lowered in front.

 

Any write-ups on rolling fenders? My tire size is 205/45

instead of rolling the fenders and possibly ruining the paint or screwing it up. u can trim the insidelip on the fender i did this to my ek hatch last year and it took away all the problems and i wusnt noticeable one bit just be careful with the cutting wheels and tape it up well incase of slip up's

Whats the inside lip?

 

Rust could also be a long term issue if you decide to cut the rear fenders, so have some rust-resistant paint to touch up the bare metal with.

Its my front fender that rubs not the rear.

 

The reason why I asked is if you just so happened to be in So Cal there are many people who provide fender rolling services.

Search the marketplace for your respected region and see if anyone provides that service. If they do it right (fender roller + heat gun) then there should be no damage to your paint. I have seen pics of rolled fenders on an S2K (and the process) and there was no paint damage

It dosnt rub on that part of the fender. It rubbed threw the plastic and is hitting the metal under the plastic like in the middle of the fender.

 

Op- have you looked at this site, its where i went and had zero issues and little to no rubbing afterwards and im on 17's

Middle of the fender as in up in the wheel well or on the outside of the fender, just in the middle or the arch?

 

Through the plastic inner liner? Well dude, I think if you can't come to terms with your car being a little too low, the only thing I can recommend is that you remove your inner liner, and suffer the consequences.

Or raise the damn thing up... rubbing issues can usually be cured by adjusting camber, going with smaller rims/tires, raising the car and fender rolling etc.

I just flattened out mine today, attempted rolling but settled for making it flat instead of angling down like it did. It looks like I have more clearance now so I should be good.

I've been running without the plastic liner for a while now while I'm sanding/prepping my car and nothing has happened. I'm going to put mine back one.

But crud, if you already wore through the liner and are touching the metal up in the fender, you either have the wrong size wheels/tires or you need to raise it up.
