5th gen bad auto tranny
I've got a 5th Gen prelude with a slipping tranny, and a rebuild is out of the question since it is so expensive.
I was wondering what my options are if I'm on a budget?
I know a lot of people recommend doing a manual swap, but the costs seem to add up for that.
I can get another automatic tranny for $500, is that my best bet?
It seems like H22A (93-96, 4th gen) trannys are a lot cheaper, but I'm not sure it would work since the 5th gen autos have tiptronics.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Yea, a 5spd swap's gonna cost quite a bit also..
I dunno if I'd pay $500 for an Auto tranny, you should be able to get one for less.. Most people just try and give them away as they're not needed.. Maybe you can find someone with a JDM Swap that has an Auto tranny and get it from them.. That would be your best bet in my opinion.

Do the 5spd swap. Everything would be less than 1500, and that is if you got a shop to do it. Including clutch, flywheel, tranny, axles, linkages, shifter assembly, and a little wiring to still be able to use your auto ecu.
Auto or 5spd? I know the 5spd's will work. Haven't actually heard of someone using an Accord Auto in the Prelude, but I don't see why it wouldn't work if the 5spd is the same.
