Clutch issues/adjustment
I have a friend I am helping that has a 91 civic 4 spd. The clutch is either out of adjustment or on its way out. When you take off in first, it will slip in even over 2-3 secs pretty much no mater how easy you take off. If you cram on it and dump the clutch, it just does it even longer. Second has some delay, but 3rd and 4th go right in even if you bang quick shift, it locks in immediatly, no slipping. The clutch activates/deactivates right at the top of the pedal, close enough that i suspect that the adjustment is so far out, that its almost never fully activated. But thats just my theory, im a domestic man, so these are new to me. Any help would be great.

ok open the hood and look at the cable that goes down to you transmission while passing trough all the engine bay. That is your clutch cable.
first if the cable end is not loose then pull on the cable upwards and unscrew the bolt on the cable. go try you clutch, if it still slips then you need a new clutch assembly.

What do you mean to unscrew the bolt on the cable? Unhook it completely? If you mean to see if its the tension by completely unhooking the cable, how do i start it or go into first? Please explain.
the clutch cable passes through a bracket, where it passes through that bracket the cable is threaded and has a nut on it. what you have to do is loosen the nut to adjust where the clutch lets out. loosen it about 2 turns and see where it lets out... if the problem still persists do another 2 turns... keep doing that til the pedal lets out about half way. if it still slips your friend is in need of a new clutch
