my headlight bulbs keep on blowing....help please
this is on a 97 lude. headlight bulb blows after 2-3 months after replacement. there is also alot of corrosion buildup at the battery terminals. what can be causing this? alternator? thanks ahead...
youre using aftermarket bulbs most likely. right? my 2000, blew sylvania silverstars in a couple months. so i went with cheap ebay bulbs, which were great, because they looked better, lasted the same, and were only 8 bucks. but i finally went back to oem bulbs, for 12 bulbs, discounted. and they have a year warrantee. theyve been in for a few months now, and no problems.
no hids. no im not touching the bulbs. they are installed correctly. i put in a pair of silverstars after one of the ones that came with the car blew. after that, one of the silverstars blew again within 3 months so i replaced it with another silverstar. then they blew again on the opposite side so i replaced them both with the oem replacement ones (cost half of silverstars). and it was still doing the same thing. those blew around 3-4 times already including last nite. i have had the car for close to 2 years now and its getting my pissed off. the plugs seem to have corrosion on them too(thick wet greenish stuff). on my integra the bulbs would last forever.
97+ prelude are known to have problems like this. Any aftermarket bulbs will end up blowing due to the wattage from the harness. Our prelude puts out a different amount of watts, compared to the aftermarket bulbs. Due to that, aftermarket bulbs do not last long in our housing.

so the only way to solve this is to go to the dealership and buy some oem ones? seems like there is not much of a difference. what's causing all the corrosion.... is the alternator putting too much voltage out?
