Replacing the Dizzy Cap and Rotor
I have replaced my plugs and wires on my 96 Civic EX Coupe. I now want to replace my cap and rotor. After removing the Cap I am having trouble figuring out how to remove the rotor. I do not believe it is hard at all, but just want to do it correctly. Any help would be appreciated!
BTW - Has anyone else found that oil was leaking into their distributor? When I opened mine up there was a small puddle of oil on the bottom side of the cap.

You have to crank the car over until the screw lines up in the channel...take the screw out and it should pop right out. The oil in your dizzy is because your distributor o-ring is leaking. 3 bolts holds the dizzy on and the seal is easy to change.
Yes, your ignition timing. Just make a mark on the distributor to the top of the head and make sure it lines up and your good.

if youre referring to the actual motor timing...nope, the teeth on the distributor are offset so they only line up 1 way. If youre talking about advancing or retarding the ignition timing just do what 5_lug_b said and make a mark from the dist to the head where it bolts on

Yes, you can mess up your motor by setting the distributor timing wrong.
If it's off by too much you can scorch the valves and/or pistons.
@ OP:
Just use chalk to make a mark on the dizzy housing and draw it straight onto the block so you can line it right back up when you put the new one in.
As far as removing the rotor, just give it a crank with the cap off until the screw faces up - then it just unscrews and slides off.
As far as oil IN the distributor goes - IT IS NOT THE O RING. If the oil is coming out of where the housing goes into the head on the outside, it's the O-Ring - if the oil is inside the distributor (as in it's coming from where the igniter/rotor is) then it's your distributor seal - not the O ring, but you still have to remove the distributor to replace it.
