93 Accord 2.2l overheating issue.
I have a 93 Accord lx 2.2liter with 142k miles on it, my issue is somewhat simple but still bothering me. It seems that even after replacing the radiator, thermostat, upper lower radiator hoses, and bleeding air prom the system she still wants to overheat from time to time. The strange thing is its not ALL the time some what spreatic but always in traffic. It never gets to hot and swithcing to heat will drop the gauge. I had the T-Belt and water pump replaced at 90k and just don't know if I am missing a step or if its time for a new pump and T-Belt again. I don't get water in the oil or oil in the water so I don't think its a head gasket problem I am starting to wonder if maybe a faulty gauge???
Let me know if any of you guys have come accross this before.

Im having this same problem right now with my 97 ex. Im still in the process of figuring it out but it has the same symtoms. What i have noticed is only one of the two fans come on, and this fan only come on when i turn the AC on. I was told to check the relay and the fuses, and then if both are working well check the fan itself. I bought the Haynes book yesterday from bumper to bumper was $20 with taxes and it shows where the two relays are and how to test them.
Does your condensor fan work only with the AC system, and your electric fan only with the cooling of the water temp??
And where are your main switches, and relays? In the box under the hood back by the passenger side?? And the simple fuse by driver kick panel?? Or any other areas I am missing??

Check if both fans work. Turn on your A/C. Do your fans work at all? Both?
Are the sensors bad? My car used to do this too. The temp gauge would rise about the red line. But after I washed the engine bay, It went away. Maybe check if the sensors are bad?

when your ac is on then just the fan on the driver side kicks on.
the fuses, and relay is on the passenger side are by the fire wall.
there is one fan switches, and three E.C.T.'s. the fan switch is located on the rear passenger side of the motor, located on the t-stat housing. the one going to the cluster is the smaller of the two on the passenger side of the block under the distributor. one of the E.C.T's is on the block, and the other is on the front t-stat housing. for info on how to ohm them out, get a Hyanes book from just about any auto parts store.
