transmission compatibility
My 1994 accord automatic tranny failed at 130k miles, and so I'm putting a junkyard replacement in. A direct replacement is around $500. For reasons I won't elaborate on, I happen to have a 1991 tranny available. However, even though the 91 is of the H4A transmission variety, it is the APXA type (rather than the AOYA which is used on the 94 accord). I'm told that the shifting pattern of these two transmissions are totally different, and that the 91 had separate transmission and engine computers (on the 94 they are integrated into a single unit). There are minor mechanical differences (flex plate is slightly different) but no show-stoppers. My question - if I were to mount my 94 solenoids from the AOYA onto the 91 APXA, and install the appropriate flexplate for mechanical mating to my 94 F22B2 engine, could the 91 tranny work with my 94 F22B2 engine? Thanks in advance.
