Default Audio question

I have a 2001 Accord Coupe EX with a 6-disc in dash cd changer. I noticed that the connector that goes into the back of this head unit has 3 or 4 unused plugs. I was just wondering if those plugs are dead or if you can connect something to them... like another cd changer or an ipod. And if not, does anybody know of a way to directly connect an ipod to this head unit? I tried both the tape and an fm transmitter and they both sound horrible. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

white and red output wires? Those are generally used to connect an amplifier. im not 100% sure about connecting an ipod to those.

If they're output wires, how would you use them as an input?
