Just bought my first bike 1993 CBR 600f2... I got some questions and anything I should know????
Well I work with a guy that just had a kid, he's had it since 1993. Its in MINT condition I mean this thing is clean... its got a Yosh pipe on it, 16000 miles. Oil was changed every 2000 miles or 2-3 months if it sat, I'm not new to racing or cars or anything, I build all my own motors (b series) I'm very well informed on the car side of things and I love Honda...
I have no users manual...
what weight and how much oil does this bike take?
what do I need to know about chain tension, problems....
just anything I might run into???
its the black silver/red color scheme..

congrats! the F2 is a great bike, and a decent starter bike to boot. They are indestructible, mechanically.
common problems on the F2 are the regulator/rectifier, cam chain tensioner, and hmmm. not sure there's much else.
the bike takes 10w40 if i'm not mistaken, using honda GN4 or HP4 would be fine on these bikes (GN4 is the spec honda dino oil, hp4 their semi-syn) if you're not sure if it's a motor that's seen synthetic its whole life.
stuff like chain tension is the same on the F2 as it is on any other bike, the chain should sag about 1.5" at the point of greatest droop. You check this by figuring out where the point of greatest droop is (generally the middle of the chain b/w the F and R sprocket), take your finger, and lift the chain until it's taught. you should be able to raise it about 1.5 to 2 inches. if it's going 4 inches, it's too loose. if it's not going 1.5" it's too tight. too loose is better than too tight, so err on the side of looseness.
anyway, there's a factory service manual out there for the F2 (in fact i have one that i'm not doing anything with if you want it for $10) that'll be a big help.

congrats....I have a 92 f2 as my starter bike and love it....it has 23k miles on it and the only problem I had with mine is replaced the battery and regulator...they are fun to ride and comfortable just like CyberLeader mentioned
