Default Skunk2 A Arm (elaborate with pics!)

Skunk2 Install - (note) some people may take different steps but this procedure should give you general (maybe specific) idea on how to install it. You can do all of the install with hand tools. (air tools are for wussies!)

1) Remove the cotter pin (w/ needle nose) that holds the upper ball joint. Remove the nut which is a 17mm. You will then need to seperate the ball joint with a "fork" style tool you can rent from Autozone for ~$15. After this is done, it should look like this.

2) Remove the (2) top anchor bolts which are 17mm. You do not have to remove your stress bar, just use an extension. These bolts are in the engine compartment. Then, remove the bolt which holds the A arm and Anchor bolts in place. They are 14mm. You will need a wrench and socket to perform this procedure.

3) Reverse process to install Skunk2 A Arm. Use the new cotter pin that they provide you. The final installation should look like this.

OBSERVATIONS - I noticed that once I dialed in the camber at my desired position, it raised my car in the front, 0.25-0.50" inches. Im assuming this because my floor jack was never able to slide underneath my front core support without using the Honda jack on the sides. Now, it slides with ease. I need to run my car to the alignment shop now.

How much did you pay for yours and where did you buy them from?

Looks great, good post!

Just wondering what techinically makes this type of a camber kit better than the typical Ingalls kit, or is it just different?

Ive used Ingalls in the past, my experience with them were that they were too hard to adjust. This A arm makes matters more simpler.

Skunk2 upper arms suck my *****.

On my Civic they smash into the underside of my strut tower areas and put nice dents in them and even made the paint flake off!

Skunk2 upper A-arms for good cmber correction:

I thought the skunk2 camber kit was designed to prevent this exact problem?

I just installed them. I also just tracked (road raced) them.

I was upset that I ordered them from King, and they sent me Skunks. I guess they used to re-make the skunks (by adding longer bolts with nuts on the undersides) to make sure they didnt slip.

This leads me to my next point.. slippage. I have heard on 3 accounts that they have a tendency to slip. I went ahead and used my dremel and notched the areas around the sliding bolts with a few dozen lines.

My first session, 3rd lap on a an off-camber right, the drivers side SLIPPED. It went FULL POSITIVE.

*******************
NOTE: Upon returning to the pits to fix it, I noticed ALL 4 BOLTS WERE LOOSE
*******************

I assume the alignment shop didnt tightem them all the way. Once tightened to my liking, they DID NOT SLIP for the rest of the day.

I was planning on getting the skunk2 kit real soon, cuz i herd that people using the ingalls kit was having the exact same problem. The argument about hte suspension travel does sound valid tho. Anybody out there having problems with their skunk2 on integras? I'm sure we covered this before in an old post tho.

Chris, I do have a question for you. The (2) bolts up top that go through the anchoy bolt are 14mm. Are you supposed to make that pretty tight to where you have to use force to flex the A-arm? I didnt tighten it ALL the way but left enough slack to where it can move freely (some what).

Stock Suspension indeed.

I noticed the A-Arm "pop" up when I broke away the ball joint, so I tried as best I could to prop it up and tighten it back in the "up" position.

I dont think it will matter that much...

Tom's smokin crack again. Its fine on mine. I think its okay on Chris' car with the exception of the 4 loose allen bolts.

And the others I mentioned having slipped.. all blame possible loose bolts.

Is anyone else having that problem? I've heard its a problem with a lot of different camber kits. How load is it bovine? Anybody have a solution to this thing? Cuz like i said above.. i'm planning on getting this. Oh and kind of on a side note.... anybody know any good alignment shops in riverside i might go to afterwards?

Its not too bad, since Im real meticulous on my car only I can notice it. I really doubt any passenger or a newbie would be able to hear it. Again, the reason why it creeks is because I didnt tighten those 14mm bolts all the way as I "think" I should. Not sure if Im supposed to tighten those 2 bolts up there REAL tight.

I noticed a creeking noise with my camber kit also. But only sometimes? and usually only when going slow over dips in the road. So it doesnt make much sense, I'm thinking about jacking it up and just lubing up all the joints and checking everything to make sure its nice and tight. I'll make a post if it fixes the problem.

Its the bushings. Especially if they are polyurethane. AMybe mage sure all the bolts are tight, but personally, I would not worry about the squeaks

From my research on here: Take the allen bolts out, and scuff up the area. Also use thread locker. If you take it to a shop, have them put it in when they do the alignment, or when you get the car back, take on bolt out at a time, and use the thread lock.

I would also like to go as far as to lose the allens all together for a longer, regular head bolt.. stronger perhaps, with say, a 10 mm head...

My allens are stripped out after 2 days.. hehe and I dont think they are very strong to begin with.

here is how I notched it... red lines..
