Default how screwed am i?

check engine light was flashing, so i brought it to autozone.

threw 5 codes, one duplicate:

p0420
P0304
p1457
p1399

ok so i dont really care about the 1457 or 0420 because i know what they are and how to go about fixing it. 0304 is cylinder 4 misfire. what does that mean, how does it happen and what does it mean for my car now...1399 isnt even on the ecu list in the FAQ so i have no idea what it is. fast help would be greatly appreciated

if its miss firing then you might need new spark plugs.

My brother had a 98 gsr with about 60k on it, and it started running crappy, so he took it in, and they said he had terrible compression and he needed an engine rebuilt..... Instead he replaced the spark plugs and drove it for a long time, fast as it was the day it was new, and then sold it. didnt have any problems again..

1399 is random misfires, it doesn't even throw the CEL.

What plugs did you put in? What did they look like when you pulled them out. What wires are on it? and what do you mean by crosses wires?

my teg was giving me similar problems

what caused it was the seals on the valve cover were leaking some oils onto the spark plugs. so check them for any sign of oil.

i cleaned off the seals and put some sealent on them no oil now.

i also replaced the sparkplugs sense i figured misfiring and oil on them didn;t do them good.

no problems now

ok. update on what i've done so far.

changed wires, bought bosch 7mm. not the best but whatever it should prevent a misfire from that potential cause anyway.

checked distributer cap for metal shavings possibly occurring because of bad distributer. cap was clean.

pulled plugs. installed in the last 3 weeks, bosch platinum + 4 PRE GAPPED. plugs had normal coloration and wear and were all the same.

put a ton of lucas fuel stabilizer in the gas tank to clear up any possible injector problems.(trying to take every angle here)

oil was really really low. added 3 quarts of oil.

after this i brought it back to autozone and they rechecked it for me. it threw one code this time(the p1457 will come on after a while im sure) and it was the secondary o2. i just switched it out and the wires got screwed up so i know why thats happening.

by crossed wires i meant 2 spark plugs wires touching each other or being too close and maybe causing a problem with the spark in that way

what should i do next?

Sell it to someone who won't let a car that only holds 4.2 quarts of oil run on one quart of oil. Integra's deserve better. I hope she starts leaving you stranded everywhere you go.

Also, for some reason, there have been many threads about how crappy Bosch plugs work for Honda cars, should have stuck with the stock NGK's.

ok first, you low level aids survivor, i have been running bosch plugs in MY car, not yours, for over 2 1/2 years. SECOND. my car has started to burn oil. each oil change it is a different amount. and i changed it 1500 miles ago. considering i have a lot of personal problems going on right now im not rushing out to check the freakin thing. THIRD. i am asking for help with a problem, now considering you are only making the problem WORSE. do me a personal favor, friend, and never comment on my posts again? k? thanks sweetie. go *** your mother.

oh and my car didnt even come with stock wires. and im happy with the ones i have. nor are ANY OF THOSE THINGS WHY THIS IS HAPPENING. god you fuking peice of trash go wrap your car around a tree and stop racking up posts with your nonsensical blather. no wonder you have so many posts. i come here to learn, you come here to trash people. when you are the peice of trash.

thats your first problem right there......DO NOT RUN BOUSH plugs and wires......they suck.....they suck even more in imports...especially honda/acuras and nissans...depending on model teg you have...running plat. are bit of a overkill......replaces wire and plugs with either stock and/or NGK's......when spark plugs wires do touch each other it will cause a disruption but before the bosch if you had stock ones on it would have been fine....you usually encounter this problem with poor insaluted wires.......WOW 3 qts of oil was added.....do you see any smoke out of your exhaust...especially when you get on it.......you may have to do a compression and leak down test.......

at this point i do believe you guys that bosch plugs and wires arent the best, but the thing is that i just bought them, and they arent cheap and i dont have any money to go buy other ones. i was running apc 9mm wires for the last year or so and i never had any problems with those.

Do a quick search on my past posts and see if I bash ANYONE'S thread. I constantly answer posts with possible solutions to problems with no bashing, and many times a simple search would have given the answer anyway, but the posters are too lazy to search.

I gave him the first practical advice in this thread, letting him know that Bosch plugs run like crap in our cars. Secondly, I love Integra's, that is what this forum is dedicated to, and if anyone let's their Integra run down to one quart of oil, they don't deserve to be driving it.

Lastly, to the original poster, sorry to hear about your personal problems, go ahead and take it all out on me, thats fine with me, but please, give your Integra the respect that she deserves.

if you still have your receipt go back to where you purchased them and tell them they dont know WTF they are talking bout...expl about the misfire and demand either exchange of some ngk's or $$

yea i could do that but i would have to put back on the old apc's to return the ones i got, and im hesitant to do that because since i changed all the stuff i mentioned above i havent had another misfire.

to sam92teg: to quote kramer, its all water near a bridge. or somehting like that.

I hate when people say use the search feature. The thread creator probably did use the search option first. But not every problem has been covered on here and the whole purpose of this forum is for people to research and DISCUSS their issues.

well i mean searching for "misfire" or spark or any broad term is gonna give you a million results. searching for p0304 is gonna give you 2 results, probably in the prelude section or something. i did get some answers to it there but this problem was so involved and confusing cuz it threw 5 codes that i obviously needed to ask.

i stil havent really got an answer to reasons why a misfire happens though. im still interested in that if anyone has an idea

most likely you had bad wires. Run the stock ones or msd or ngk. Something of quality. Steeer away from the cheap apc and swapmeet special's. 3 qt of oil dam. it only holds 4 and some change.

yea so kidding about the oil. the dipstick still showed a low level of oil, but after only 1500 miles i didnt think it would be THAT BAD. i guess i was wrong though and i will definately check it more often now. i also bought an obdII code reader thing to avoid going to autozone everytime this happens haha.
