Default Prices of used R's

I have been looking into getting an R in the next few months and can't help but notice the prices have been going up these days. I am well aware that this is a rare car and all, but I just can't believe that someone wants 22k for a '98 on autotrader.

Also, why do people say "I am selling due to the amount of theft...here is my '00 for 25k". Shouldn't the fact that you can't take it outside of your garage without someone following you home drive the price down a little?

this is a no brainer: no, it shouldnt take the price down a little. its wishful thinking on the buying point of view, but really, thats the reason they are selling it. there are still many locations where theft isnt as rampant...

so if you can find a good ITR with low mileage (regardless of year)... i'd say hop on it. i'd gladly pay 22k for a itr with less than 20k miles.

You're average 98 is worth no where near 22k.. anyone who says thinks your average 98 ITR is worth that is smoking some really really really evil crack.

Less than 20k miles is the key. A '97 or '98 is all that is my price range, well somtimes, but finding one with that amount of mileage is pretty hard. It seems more like wishful thinking on the selling point of view to me. "Lets see, I bought this car three years ago for 26k. I have put 50k miles on it, and added an Intake. I think I will sell it for 20k".

Also, look at it this way, it is an Integra. Thats right, an Integra. Not a Pantera, or an NSX, but an Integra. Flame me all you want for that statement. But it is true.

Why should a 3 - 4 year old Integra with 50k miles on it be going for 18 or 19k (average price for ITR's on autotrader)? Just doesn't make sense to me. I am still going to get one though.

You don't have to convince US. You need to convince a seller.

You can have my 98 for $57,1125.12 firm

Supply and demand.

If you know you can get X amount of dollars for something, why would you sell it for less. Doesn't matter whether it's an Integra or not. The cars will sell for what the market will bear, and quite frankly there are more people who want ITRs than there are ITRs, which is a trend that will probably only worsen.

Well, I am sure the majority of the demand need to finance. In order to get a back to finance a car, w/ a secured loan, the car can only cost so much. Over a certain price and the bank says that it is over valued and wont give you any money.

How do you figure? The ITR wont sell if no one can get enough money for it

-Dave, who thinks ITR owners are idiots when they overvalue their chit.

But someone will get enough money for it. And if nobody could get the money, or was willing to pay that price, the cars would sell for less. Simple.

Do you mean to tell me you'd willingly sell something (anything) for significantly less than what you knew it capable of fetching?

As in any car, if you look around you can probably get an R for a "fair" price. It's tough because they are rare, but they are available. I think most private sellers are gonna be "flexible" and a good price can be negotiated most of the time. An R purchased from a dealer will mean **** penetration without vaseline....

I'm kinda glad the prices are going up but also saddened by the upwards movement. The reason why I'm sad is because the few Rs that are left untouched by theives and such are getting rare and the owners know it so ... demand and supply comes into effect (like said before) On the other hand If a ITR owner feels the need to sell, well he or she will most likely profit from owning one of the truelly rare cars.

So back to the age long question, will the ITR become a collectors car, YES it has started the day they made the first one.

it's supply and demand...if theres a market out there for that price with that car, prepare to fork up the cash

if it's just another integra to you, dont get it then...that's your problem, not the sellers

See above post about price range. I can afford that, but I dont want to. I am looking for a '97 or '98 w/ A/C. I have about 1500 for a down payment right now. I may wait till I have a bit more first though.

all the ITRs are the same just about from 97-01. 20k miles on a 97? extremely rare.

50k miles more like it....

yeah, its an integra, but a limited edition one. no need to convince us that someone should let their 97 go for $11000 because they have 50k miles on it.

like i said, for me, personally, i would not mind paying 20-22k for a ITR regardless of year if it has under 20k miles (come on, there are some ITR's that get babied and kept in a garage all year long).

thats like telling me the guy who owns the 1997 ITR 97-001 who has exactly 14 miles on the car, kept it in a heated garage under a car cover ...never drove it, kept it as a collectors item, .....who finally wants to sell his car, that you will only pay him 10k for the car. Thats just imho.

I'm not sure about your regions. When the 97-98 Type R's came out over here in TX, they were selling for 28k-35k. So whoever can get a 97-98 for under 20k is getting a bargain considering the original owner paid 5k+ over sticker for it back in those days.
