Default How do your light cars Feel at 120mph +

The reason I ask is because I find this year, with alot more power.. my car just seems to FLOAT at even like 100mph... Like scary now..

Ive got a set of 24.5x8x13 slicks that i havent ran yet and im hopin they will keep me relatively strait and not feel like im floating..

Last year I had 22's and it wasnt TOO bad at 118mph.. but i know the trap speeds will be much higher this year with almost 500whp..

the only difference is the fact that I lost power steering this year...and i feel the road alot more...

If the alignment is right, the car will drive itself and feels fine, if the alignment is off, it can be the scariest ride of your life!

What tire pressure are you running ? How low is the car and have you done any type of alignment to the car ?

The man speaks the truth... My car felt scary as $hit last year always fighting with the wheel..

my car was straight as an arrow at 127mph. even on the street. a good alignment is the most important thing imo.

My car gets a little scary on regular street tires when there spinning at 120+. With cheater slicks or drag radials it straightens right out, even if it's not getting traction.

Same here, once you get use to it.. it can almost drive itself after the 1-2 shift.

Lots of cars have aero lift at the rear in OEM trim. That isn't good for high speed stability in a lightened car. It is also why I have a big diffuser section on the back/bottom of my car.

The body shapes on most small cars were not meant to go 140 or 150mph and be stable. It just was not a consideration in most cars that are low-powered in OEM trim.

My car goes pretty straight, but I guess on one pass in vegas I was out of the grove at the top end of the track and I had the wheel turned 180deg. It was still going straight! The only thing going through my mind was, I hope it doesnt pull the wheel out from me because we are going for a ride!!

im not making the power you are, but my car definately drives shitty at 100+. (eg hatch 415whp) it definately floats on the bumps or even very slight turns. i dont have problems at the track because its perfectly level, but ANY imperfections on the street and it gets shitty real fast. with a much stiffer coilover and stuff im looking to get rid of this.

nice smooth 24.5'' slicks, 2000 lbs car, runs mid 11s @ 120-ish....smooth and straight up top. did my own alignment. its not really hard to do (dont have a laser rack, just a tape meaure, some ramps, and wrenches

is that why people use bumper diffuser's to make sure the aerodynamics are in tact?
