15in & 17in differences

Default 15in & 17in differences

Ok....I've been searching the forums and I found "some" info I need, but nothing much in a comparison test. So here goes...

The car we'll use is a civic with a b18c swap, just the basic bolt ons and coilovers/traction bars.

On 15in Slipstreams w/Falken Azenis RT-615 and a good driver, 1/4mile times should be around 14.2. With 17in Slipstreams w/Falken Azenis RT-615 and a good driver, how much of a difference would your 1/4mile be? Would it be "that" much of a difference? If we're talking about a hundreth of a sec, I don't mind, but if it's going to be like a WHOLE sec difference, then I would stick with 15s. Also, how about your 0-60ft times?

Any suggestions/comments are greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I hate to disagree......


stick with the smaller wheels for drag racing..... from my experience everytime I went to larger wheels and lower profiles @ the drags... I would lose 3-5 tenths

If you were tracking the car I would say go to 17"..... Also in the 17" size the Slipstreem is way too heavy....... If I remeber correctly is almost 20lbs.........

For all around performance, Stick with the 15's as they will make the most of the power from your engine. 17's will only help at the top end area of performance(top speed).

Your statement applies to tire sizes, not wheel sizes. It sounds like you are assuming that larger wheels use tires with a larger outer diameter, which is not necessarily true at all.
