Okay oaky, Are you looking for a aftermarket radio, Like pioneer, alpine, kenwood? Or are you looking for add on factory cd player for your radio? You can put anything in your car.

The only thing that will fit the opening properly is a 96-98 Civic radio...

If you don't care that there's a gap on the left side, any 98 or older, single-din Honda radio will be plug & play... Newer radios will work, but will require some additional wiring...

Hmm... Now that you mention it, my '98 Civic EX didn't come with a CD player...

I don't think any 96-98 Civics came with CD players due to lack of real estate inside the unit, taken up by the factory keyless entry...

You could always do what a lot of people do and leave the unit up top, and put an aftermarket unit in the pocket location behind the cupholders... :shrugs:

where would that second unit go? above the cup holders? I really don't like two seperate pieces of equipment could I use something out of an accord or even an integra unit( I know it will say acura I can live with that)

I really don't like the way they look or that they usually protrude from the dash. also I want to do this on the cheap like less than an aftermarket install kit would cost

Yes.

As stated above, if you can live with the gap on the left side of the deck, you can use any single din Honda/Acura deck.

An aftermarket unit will leave a gap if you don't use the dash kit that fills it.

The kit I linked will work for most single din stock HUs also. 94

^^^ There will also be a gap on the left side, where the angled portion of the stock radio's face would be...

Or you could not be ghetto and try and modify the dash kit for that vehicle to work with a different OEM radio...

The Metra 89-30-7891 trim piece only covers the gap at the right of HU, it allows for a flusher fit of both aftermarket HU and single din Honda/Acura HUs and covers the gap to the right of HU. 94

Yes realy, the Metra 89-30-7891 has nothing on that side, it is nothing more then a din trim ring and a cover for the gap on the right... http://cgi.ebay.com/Honda-Civi...sting in some cases I even cut off the din trim ring and only use the cover, glue it to the pocket.
