Desperate H22 swapper needs HELP!!
a 97 SOHC F22 non-Vtec Accord is getting a 95 OBD1 DOHC H22A Vtec JDM motor
the motor is in, it runs (on the stock ECU) and it looks great.....
here's where things get weird... the shop (following swap instructions that I gathered from this site and others) used the Accord harness, expecting it to work on the Prelude ECU/TCM that came with the motor.
I'm being told now that the harness they used from the Accord may have in fact been OBD2.... this is because the F22 harness wants the Auto tranny to be run by a single blue plug that attaches to the same unit as the Engine management, where the H22 ECU has a separate TCM and ECU. So essentially my OBD1 H22 has been wired up as OBD2
The simple fact that the motor is running with the OBD2 F22 ECU leads me to believe that it would also run on an OBD2 H22 ECU. I need ANYONE who knows their stuff to PLEASE tell me if this work. I realize I will be sacrificing future ECU mods with OBD2, but thats a minor sacrifice to the alternative which would involve buying an OBD1 harness and having my pissed mechanic rewire it back to OBD1.
The only other alternative I have found would be to buy one of these OBD2->OBD1 harness adapters, and then figuring out how to manually wire up the auto tranny controls.
PLEASE HELP.... I don't know if either of the above are even plausible
