This is a very strange problem because I have followed the instructions to the T, and the motor is currently in the car. However the DOHC VTEC valve cover is laughing at me because while its in, i seem to be having a compatibility issue with the ECU.

From what my mechanic has told me, in using the Accord harness (as per every swap guide) with the H22 ECU, the plugs don't seem to line up. The Accord harness is my stock 1997 non-VTEC SOHC F22 harness with the necessary wires added to accomodate the VTEC. The F22 harness wants there to be an ECU with tranny control included, whereas the H22 ECU has a separate brain for the tranny. So to make a long story short, the H22 ECU has 3 composite-plugs and the Accord ECU had 4. Is my mechanic missing something or do have the wrong ECU?

PLEASE HELP!!!

 

waht u ahve is an obd1 h22 ecu/tcm setup, and ur car is an obd2 setup, hence why it wont match up.

 

do you have a link? can you be more specific? Like where i need to go to get the right ECU?

 

you need to convert your car to ODB1

 

can I use a 97 prelude H22 OBD2 ecu? any links? switching to OBD1 is sooo over the top.... thats easily a week of rewireing, and the engine is already bolted down. I the 97 Accord OBD2 just because of the harness, as in: could I just purchase a harness for a 95 prelude (the year of the motor) or use an earlier year accord harness?

 

If you have an OBD2 engine, you could, but you have an OBD1 engine, in a OBD2 car

so you need to convert yours to OBD1

Switching over to obd1 is not complicated at all ,a monkey could do it. You can use the obd2 H22 ecu but you have to have the immobilizer immobilized.....Also no tuners can or will tune an OBD2 ECU.

 

So, in it being easy i'm assuming i would need only to get my hands on the OBD1 harness and just re-splice all the sensors and BS, then plug it in, and jam? does this also meant that the cat-O2 sensor will be useless and the factor security system will be irrelevant?

and what I'm also hearing is that if i have plans for a turbo in the future, the OBD2 would be next to impossible to tune?

 

OK, i have a different plan...
I've found that the OBD2 harness can be adapted to plug into an OBD1 ECU. While this is great, and paying $150 for an adapter sux, the harnesses that I'm seeing turn the engine management wires, but will they also accomodate the blue AT wire that would then be running to the separate OBD1 AT computer? or is that a separate adapter?
