Had a new transmission installed, car starts out in 3rd gear SOMETIMES.At the initial start with key turned and idiotliights on, some times the shifter makes a clicking noise and the park drive light goes back and forth on and off.Sometimes the thing starts and drives fine,shut it off and start again, starts out in 3rd gear again. Can some one help me to help my mechanic. He is great but the 1993 honda computor being a dumb one has got him stumped.

You or the mechanic needs to get the transmission trouble code to try to narrow down the problem. Get the code by jumping the service connector.

The 4th gen Accords commonly had problems with the Transmission Control Module (TCM) and/or the solenoids. Here is a link to help further:
