thinking about buying an 89 accord, had some Q's
So I found an '89 four door for 1200$, and I just thought I'd ask about some issues it had. So far I've generally had a good vibe from it, but you can never get too much advice.
- Is bits of light rust on the frame and shocks/ suspension a bad thing? There isn't anything really bad (and it just got inspected), but is it going to rust out majorly? I live in PA, so salt is an issue.
- Are Delta tires any good? That's what's on the car. Additionally, would a 96 Accord's rims fit on an 89?
- The transmission's supposedly had regular fluid changes, but I've heard bad things about Accord autos. Is it likely to fail on me? The car's got 236k miles, but I might be trying to swap in a manual eventually. Is that difficult? I really didn't like the underpowered feel from the auto, but it's probably good for the engine that it never revs past 3k.
- Also, is there any chance a 2.2 vtec f22 from a 96 accord would fit in an 89? This seems unlikely but I just thought I'd ask.
Thanks

Thanks
1) wayyyy too much for an 89
2) surface rust isn't horrible but needs to be taken care of
3) Delta is probably a walmart brand - ok for DD
4) Most auto trannys are not bad, you could swap it
5) no, look into B swaps
