im doing a swap for this kid i know he was told its a jdm gsr engine. it has no vtec oil pressure switch or a hole for one. what ecu would run vtec without this switch? anyone have any info on this head? i know im going to end up tapping the block but im just curious.
JDM engines don't have a VTEC pressure switch on the solenoids. Only a JDM ecu will run the motor with VTEC working and no code for a VTEC pressure switch. You don't tap the block for anything, just run the JDM GSR ECU.
All JDM B-series engines do not have a VTEC Pressure Switch (my JDM ITR doesn't have one either). I won't say all JDM engines don't have them because I'm not 100% sure the D, F and H series don't also. They don't use a Vtec Pressure Switch, just a spool valve. If you run the JDM ECU you will be fine.
