Settlement for 01-622
Well insurance gave me a call today w/ the settlement info...
good thing is they didnt lowball me....offered 22,900 - 2,300 from an accident claim i had before, so a total of 20,600.
however, they didnt cover my HIDs, Valentine one, my alarm, some tools and other stuff I had on the car

That's gay. Why would the deduct a previous accident claim amount?
So if you had 2 accident claims from before each totalling $8000, they would have only given you 22,900 - 16,000 = $6900?

Well what happened was that I was at school, got into an accident. I didnt want to leave the car up at school to get it fixed and have no way to get home, and I didnt want to leave it at home cuz I had to come back up to school for summer classes in a week.
So I was going to get it fixed when I got back up to school...but then it got stolen when I was home, so I never ended up getting it fixed

the tools and radar detector they prolly will not cover
but the alarm and HIDs are bolted to the car...so you should continue to press on for those items

yeah i had receipts for everything...even my friggin speedbleeders that were on the car
i asked them, "you're not covering them? even if they were bolted onto the car?"
they said something like "well u needed additional coverage to cover that stuff" and something about how since the HIDs were a modification and not a maintenance replacement, they dont cover it or some BS
should i call them back and bitch?

Home owners covers all your personal items that were in the car.
im pretty sure my parents have homeowner's...
perhaps I've mis-read everyone's stolen ITR thread till this date, but when they recieved $ for items on the car with receipts, such as a header, or wheels or something...did AUTO or HOMEOWNER'S insurance cover them?
I sitll think insurance should cover the frigging car alarm at least
they knew about it, i was getting the insurance discount (ohhh 50 bucks / 6 months whoopee) so they can't say they didnt know about THAT
btw - 337 is hizzot! my friend is getting one, im excited haha

The alarm and HID's should be covered. They cover up to a certain amount of aftermarket without any additional coverage required. But the V1, and CD's and stuff like that, is under home owners.
Thanks for the compliment on the 337...I am luving it.

$22,900. Are they giving you tax on top of that, or including tax?
When my GSR got totalled in 2000 (somebody smashed into it when my sister was driving. not her fault. other guy's ins company paid out), they gave me a dollar amount, then 6% (NJ) tax on top of it.
