prelude question
i have a 5th gen
how much hp and tq gain can i expect from an aem v2 cold air, dc sports 4-2-1 headers and a full rs-r exhaust?
or is there anything better that i can get instead of those that will be better

1. State what kind of motor you have (There are 3 different ones in Preludes)
2. Forget the V2 and get an ebay intake with K&N filter
3. Save your money for a real header

the v2 intake is decent. the header is junk, and as nice as rsr exhaust is its not relaly meant for power, it will be quiter than most, but you wont have the gains like you would with others.

1. False
2. Eh, depends
3. True
1. There are MANY different engines that came in the Prelude, but if you are only talking about USDM Engines, he has a 5thGen, so it's either an H22A4 Base or H22A4 SH.
2. Read nonvteclude's comment and also 98vtec's recent dyno testing: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/2049478
3. DC-S Header is only good for looks. No point in wasting money on one if you want an increase in HP. The stock H22 Header is designed very well. So, to see gains from the Header expect to pay around $500 at minimum for Minimal gains.

Heh, I figured so and since you have, I'm guessing from the Hints, a 4thGen, you just didn't catch that part..
And to bb6kid, do some research, there's tons of threads on here that have discussed this.. And the Mugen Exhaust = $$$....

For a pipe with a muffler? That's pretty expensive to me..
You should spend that plus a little on the Header, not the Exhaust..
But it all depends on mods and plans for the car, because it's just a daily driver with no plans of any type of racing, then no need to speed any where near that amount on it.. But that's me..

do you have an SH or base model? AT or MT? How many miles on the car? Do you have plans to race and if so what kind? Any prelude is a decently "quick" DD stock. Research before you buy, you won't be sorry. I remember when I was 16 and got my 4th gen. I would recommend buying a nice header, good tires, and a nice new clutch depending on what condition your is in...give us some more details so we can offer suggestions suited for your car and goals
I am a turbo guy so this may be a little out of my league but if you are going to buy an expensive, well designed header you will want to tune the motor after it is installed.....which means hondata or equivalent. I believe this also means getting an OBDI computer which could be an issue with inspections and emissions depending where you live. Have you also thought about just getting a custom exhaust system made by a good exhaust shop. Then you could just put on any straight through muffler and exhaust would flow well. The problem there is also finding a good exhaust shop that will do a quality job and not rip you off.

they sound really good imo</TD></TR></TABLE>
If your looking for off the shelf bolt on products that is excatly what i would pick. vibrant header and vibrant exhaust is a nice combination. If your not worried about a little modification i would get a camp1320 header, and a 2.5 or 3in mandrel bent exhasut from kteller, with a magnaflow muffler.

If your dad is gonna have to install your mods, I'd keep the car stock for now. You're only 16, wait until you're 17 or 18 to really start modding. Not hating, but statistically, you're alot less likely to wreck your car when you're just a year or two older. Save your money for a bit, and once you've got a bit, you'll have more options. Just my .02.

x2 im 16. i wanted to mod my car so bad. but my dad wouldnt let me till i got older. chances are your not one of the best drivers in the world as im not and i totaled my car. first learn how to drive the car well. then when you no the limits of the car slowly add mods to it and become a good driver. but hey do what you want
