Default No weather striping under hood....

Went on a road trip last week, well before I left i checked the fluids and such... well the intake minifold had a few bugs on it and some dirt. I was lookin around and noticed that there was no weather stripping under the front lip of the hood... most of my other cars had at least something to stop rain and debris to get in the engine bay... when i got to ny i stopped in at the dealer we looked at a few other si's and they had the same problem.. dirty as hell though (salty up in ny). whats the deal with that seems like a bad design to me... is it ok to put some in there or is this like that for a reason?

Its not at the front lip since the hood curves down and there is the plastic deflector that cover Radiator etc......there are 2 pieces that will lay across the the plastic cover. You can see them in the pic. It blocks a good amount of stuff.

I always wondered the same thing. Going to go check mine now, I don't think I have the weather stripping either.

Let us know what the dealership says. I checked my sedan, it doesn't appear that I've even got the holes in the hood for that! Bummer!!!

found out some info... grilles are different on sedans and coupes... the grill blocks alot on the sedans and it doesn't look like any of them come with weatherstripping.. it looks like just the coupes..

yup... we put the si sedan and coupe next to each other at the dealer and the coupe has a diff angle to it... you can buy the two pieces for around $20 bucks... or the other option is make one your self... the lx sedan has a weather strip that goes all the way across the hood at the front.. but i think thats a different hood (hole pattern)

now the only thing that gets me is why did honda do that? who wants a dirty engine

iight spoke with the parts department about this problem. They did not know of it. Even their 07 civic si sedan in the show room didn't have one. So0 they apologized and is now ordering me one and is reporting it to headquarters.( s0o maybe a quick recall ) The only one available for the 07 si's is in the 2007 Civic Ex Only with nav ( not just the regular EX) Weird i know s0o they plan on fixing it.
Peace out

LX sedan has a different Grill than the Si... I guess honda figured the top of the Si Grill would block more junk than it actually does...
