Default First Timer

I am a person then when i am doing something I like to do it right the first time. I have a 97 civic dx and i would like to do a k serious into my car. I have read lot on them and this is going to be my first swaped car. I have a lot of friends that have done d serious turbo and b serious all motor and turbo also. And then there are those with the k serious and i have been in and it is like no other. I know that people are going to say save your money and do a build with a motor that is simpler to do. All I want to know is if I should do a k serious for my first build

No, try something a little simpler. Try reading up a bit before doing something as complex as that.

I have gone on there site. I see all the other parts that are going to be needed to do the swap. I know it is not a drop in swap.

Well hey, at least you've done some research. You can do k series in your car 1st, especially if you have the $$$$. BUT, just for experience sake, turbo what you got in your car right now, have it a little while, then go K. THat's what i'd do.

I'd keep it turbo'd then move up to a nicer car once you can afford it. If you want speed, get a crotch rocket/sport bike. That's fast!

^^ x2

Not to mention is extremely expensive. You are going to spend roughly 9k on this swap. What will be your plans for the motor after the swap? Do you really want to put 9k into your motor?

If this is just something you want to do because you have seen it in other cars I wouldn't waste the money. Most people who do K-series swaps are really into the import life and have funds to continue with the expensive project. All the k-swapped cars I have seen have had top notch paint jobs, complete suspsension set ups, $1k+ seats, and rims/tires that probably cost more than my car.

I wouldn't recommend the swap as a first timer or anyone new to wrenching.

A basic b-series swap or a even a turbo sohc would have a nicer learning curve. Those engines are at least designed for our chassis unlike the k20.

Not only is it ridiculously priced and not worth it in my opinion, but if this is your first swap, I would NOT recommend it.

In all your reading of the K20 swap - did you happen to stumble upon the part where EVERY part of that swap is FULL FABRICATION? - Nothing bolts in - it's not like a B/D/H/F swap.

EDIT:
If you want a good swap - put in a F20B from the SiR II accords - it ******* ownz. Or an H22, they always rule.

Obviously you ALWAYS make the most power with a turbo - that's the way it is - sorry NA guys, I like NA too, but ALL the highest #'s are turbocharged. I'm pretty sure the Veyron is the fastest street legal car currently, it has 4 Turbos if I remember correctly.

So you'll have to keep that in mind whatever you do - turbo is ALWAYS fastest (and I'm sure 40 people are charging up to flame me when 'cause I said this, but whatever, fact > opinion), regardless of the motor. With that part out of the way, if you don't wanna boost, a high displacement motor such as the H22 or F22 or F20 is a great alternative to stay all motor.

Several issues of honda-tuning, evo magazine, and sport compact magazine will be to differ.

It's based on a LOT more than raw whp numbers, how the powerband and gearing affect could be totally different in real race time.

Is 200whp n/a better all the time? not necessarily. Autox/roadracing/drag are all types of races where each setup could be tested.

Most turbo applications vs their n/a counterparts with the same engine/gearing make so much power so fast in the upper rpm range that the end of the gear is achieved much more quickly. Resulting in a faster car.

Just knows his **** and spreads the wealth

In terms of n/a or boost, I sure as hell would much rather drive a 350whp turbo car then a 350whp n/a car for a DD. For example.

You clearly don't understand what a post ***** is. I'm not even one of the top 10 posters on this website. Take a look for yourself.

https://honda-tech.com/zerouser?cmd=topposters

Post ****** post irrelevant, and useless information or no information at all and are thus detrimental to the thread.

You sir, have the beginnings of a post ***** as you haven't really contributed to this thread, you've made two posts claiming I'm one, and I'm not.

How's that for a flip?

I always enjoy what you have to say, and people hardly disagree with you. maybe i was just bored and opening up conversation.

O Kalin, you can't flame me, ur my homie, all you can do is disagree .

You need to be one of the jackasses to flame with a passion.

Yeah, NA 200whp does indeed > 200whp on boost.

BUT.

I'm talking about top total possible HP.

screw what everyone says go k20a2 better yet k20 turbo keep reading k20a.org and you'll see 16 year olds doing it and by the way it is basically a bolt in swap with only some minor fab work. We did ours in a Dc2 in like a day. It is a great first time swap you just gotta read up and know what your doing. We even made our own pnp harness from the rsx-s e plug. Also you can search around and find good deals. I got a whole rollover 2002 rsx-s for $1000 running.

Depending on your resources a k swap can run you anywhere between $6000-$13000

For the average person the standard is ~$10,000 as far as I've heard from friends who have swapped k20's
