Why don't you meter the radio harness to see if power is going to it. Its either ground, accessories or battery thats not going to the radio.

I would say that more than likely ur new headunit is not getting ground. Sometimes when ur using an aftermarket plug for ur new radio. The pin that is supposed to go to ground of ur car harness is in the wrong slot or in a slot next to were it needs to be, hopefully that makes sense. but i would try grounding it straight and not using the harness wire. If that doesnt work then try to meter the wires like previously posted by wrx-killer

I wouldnt go that crazy just yet, do u have a muti meter or a test light that u can use to see if ur getting 12v and accessory power? Are u using an aftermarket plug? and also i would check some fuses to make sure none of them are blown, just the simple ones like radio and interior light or acc. just stuff like that. they should be labeled on the back of the fuse cover that u take off to check.

iver checked the fuses and they are still good i just tried again. i put the stock radio back in and it turns right on. i used the same wire harness in the accord and in the prelude and it worked in the prelude. im pretty much going crazy hahah. i was looking for my muiltimeter but couldnt find it. what i couldnt understand is why would the stock radio work and not this new pioneer....

Yea, connect it directly to the batt. the red, [acc.] and yellow, [constant power] can both go to the batt. pos.(+) and the black will go to the batt. neg.(-), make sure when you are testing it on the batt. that the HUs speaker leads cant short to each other or anything else.

You say you checked the fuses, did you check both the stock radio fuses, there are 2 of them, one is acc. and one for the constant 12V+, the stock HU will work even with a blown constant 12V+ fuse, but your aftermarket HU can't.

Try this, plug in the stock HU, set a few radio presets, turn off the ign. wait a min. then turn it back on, are the presets still there?

You did check the fuse in your aftermarket HU, right?

Also if you can't properly test the fuse, replace it, even if it looks good. 94

did you check to see if there was a fuse inline on your pioneer's harness or on the back of the pioneer itself???
some of them aftermarket radio's hide a mini-fuse under where the harness plugs into the radio. if you are gettinng power at the harness into the back of the radio itself...then try to hit the reset button if it has one then try to turn it on.

oh i almost forgot...some of the pioneer decks have a small resistor inline on the red wire coming from the radio's main harness. a lot of times this resistor burns out and it no longer turns the radio on because the busted resistor will not allow any current to pass through it. if you have access to a DM...turn the key to the acc positon and then use the DM to test either side of the previosly mentioned inline resistor for positive voltage. i have seen this more than a handful of times and all i did was replace it with the correct impedance one.

note: i have bypassed these resistors altogether to make the radio work and it works but it might void a warranty or something. test first.
