Default Newbies question - brake fade?

Did i experience what they call "brake fade" today?

First time i drove the car for about a fortnight, drove for about 20 minutes easy on everything, stopped the car.. started it again 30 minutes later and did a lap around the campus. Did some heavy braking (but not squeeling the tyres), first time was fine but the second time i did this the car began to shake "alittle" violently and the brake pedal was feeling unstable, same goes the steering wheel. - was this what you guys call brake fade?

Funny thing is i didn't go that hard on it really and i don't like how quickly i get it..

Could you enlighten me with some tips on how to prolong each session before they start to fade like that.. or prevent it from happening at all! What do i need to change.. what product/brand/company etc.

Thanks a mil -

That was not fade... the shake is different than a 'soft pedal'. Did your brake pedal have the same firmness as before?

Was 'the shake' the ABS working?

Have you removed your wheels? Maybe check the torque of you wheel lugs.

hmm.. well right after that i parked the car. About another half an hour later i took it for a drive again and it was back to normal.

It happened so quick.. i don't know if it was ABS or not.. sounds like a good explanation but i never made the tyres squeal at all.

Not quite sure what your describing, but sounds like abs activation to me. I reckon abs on the type-r kicks in way too early.

Was the brake pedal vibrating fast and heavily (with sound)? That's ABS.
Brake fade is just when the brakes doesn't stop the car as fast as normal anymore, when you have to step on it harder than normal. It shouldn't shake or something.
With stock brakes pads it should only happen after 3-4 laps on the track.

Strange that you have never felt that before! It never snow there in AUS?
BTW. When ABS kicks in, don't be afraid and keep pressing the brake pedal.
