Factory stereo interchanges
I have just bought a 97 Accord EX and was wanting to upgrade the stereo to one with a CD player. I was wondering if any Honda unit within the same years, 94 - 97, would interchange with mine, or does it have to be from an Accord? I was thinking they would, but since I'm new to Hondas in general, I thought I'd ask and see if anyone knew. I don't need or want anything fancy and I like the sound and look from the stock system. Thanks!
Maybe try to find the accessory cd player or maybe even check the junkyard for a cd changer.
Thats the easiest way to go about it. I have an 88 Sedan, and tried to put a 00-04 Odyssey CD player in it, and it did not work. I would have to say go with the easiest route possible.

</TD></TR></TABLE>You can install just about an single or double din HU made for Honda/Acura, from 1986 - 97/98 they used the same plug, pin out and color code some, Integra all the way to 99/2000 after that the plug pin out and color code changes, no biggie, as long as it is single or double din it can be made to fit and wire harness adapters are easily available.
Most single din units have a pocket attatched to it and the pair are mounted with 2 8mm machine screws to a rear support, later models are "ISO" mounted, [machine screws through side brackets into sides of HU].
For ease of install a HU and pocket, or double din from a 94-98 Accord or Acura 2.2CL will be a direct fit and plug and play.
This may help... http://www.installdr.com/Insta...7.pdf
Other HUs, [single or double din] can be made to fit, although they may not look stock, wiring from later models are not a problem, all you need is one of these... http://www.scosche.com/scosche...A08RB
and one of these... http://www.scosche.com/scosche...HA02B connect them together color for color, and it, plug and play.
You could just get the first one and solder/shrink tube it to your radio harness.
This will help with that... http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/HA-Wiring.pdf
Keep in mind, later HUs have security codes, so if your buying one make sure you have the code and that the HU works with the code.

Thanks for the info, guys. I know it would be easier and probably better in the long run to upgrade to an aftermarket unit, but she wants to keep it as factory as possible. I also saw just the cd player on ebay that supposedly came from an Accord and apparently just goes in place of the tray that is in under my stereo and will plug into the back of the radio. I may just try and find the cd player by itself, I don't know yet. Thanks again!!!
So if I get the 98+ connector it will work on my 88 Sedan??? I have the factory pigtail, but there is two female holes on the back of this cd player. It is not from a RES Odyssey, just an LX.

Pre 97/98 HU used 8pin Din plugs for remote CD/cass/changer units, later years used a multi-pin plug, the 2nd "female hole" you see on the Odyessy unit is for the changer.
