Do a search, you will find several links that tell you how to test whether it is the gauge itself ot something in the gas tank....

my 88 crx is doing the same thing. What is yours doing pinning to fuel or empty? Mine is pinning to fuel and my dad says that something is shorting out and it only does it every once in awhile.
