As for your question, look up at the top of the brake pedal. There is a little rubber pad up there. When you push the brake in, the pad will release a relay that activates your tail lights, when you pull your foot off the brake it presses it in. On older cars it gets old and cracks and falls apart. You can try and get one from the dealership or stack up some pennys and wrap them in a little duct tape then stick that in the grommets place and duck tape it in place. See if that works for ya.
