Need more advice. Boost or sell?
Well I feel like I'm at a crossroads with the AP1. My last car had twice the power, and however unreliable it was (DSM) it was alot of fun when it was running. I thought I could put those days behind me, but I can't ignore horsepower.
I'm considering either going turbo (inlinepro or greddy) and run low boost for awhile on stock headgasket (300-310rwhp) for 6K or sell it and purchase either used C6 or Cayman for 42-48K. The difference in payments each month would be about $400 which I can swing but I'm not sure I want to.
The 6K I would spend on the kit could pay for 14 months of the new car payment, but after that, I'd still be paying alot. However, I could still get tired of the S or the motor could let go. On the other hand, my payments on the new car would be barely keeping up with depreciation. Neither is a great investment, but I'm bored.
My friend offered to sell me his 03 Maserati Coupe with the 360 Modena engine and F1 gearbox for 40K, but the clutch is going out and it's 6K for a new one.
So what would you do in my situation? And please no 'it's your money it's up to u' as I'm very indecisive.
Thanks, Kevin

Boost it.
It would cure your need for fun hands down.
And Financially, it's the best choice. Even though, all your choices are bad as an investment.

lol you didnt like your previous car with twice the power because it was unreliable. Now you're trying to do almost the same thing with a previously NA car hoping that it will be reliable?
Sell the car and get the C6. Forget the cayman. A 310whp S2000 vs. a C6 with 500hp and a warranty....hmmm...not a hard choice man.
You said that the payments wouldnt be hard to swing...so I dont get the dillema. There's always going to be a problem with total reliability on a turbo S2000. Unless you're just drag racing it or whatever.
Even though the C6 is a GM (GM reliability is an oxymoron like "satisfying light beer"), I think it would be much more satisfying and reliable than the turbo S2000.
A 10 second car with a warranty isnt a bad gig if you can afford it. the fact that it handles better than a lot of supercars is the biggest sell in my book. But then again...S2000s can do that too.....

boosted hondas are a blast to drive and are very fast
if you have the money then off course a c6 vette would be fast and the way to go.
if not then just boost the s2k and have fun. the slow *** s2k will wake up and feel like a different car with a little boost

the C6 also has titanium connecting rods and a dry sump oiling system.
Sounds like car ****.
So buy it...cuz it's way sluttier than the S2000.

that's what i meant.
ha! wait...this whole time i thought he meant C6 z06...i guess I got ahead of myself. I was throwing out specs for the Z06..not the regular C6.
Regular C6....meh...BOORING. I could see where the boosted S2K might come close or even be better than the regular C6.

thx for all the advice, as of right now, i'm leaning towards the greddy kit and perhaps 4.77s for fun. i 'd hate to regret getting rid of this car as I do like it
Get the Greddy kit, i totalled my s2 late last year but i still religiously read up on s2ki and here about everything coming out for them because i will be buying another one someday. I want to do the Greddy kit on mine, but you do what you want it just seems like it would be a reliable way to have a bit more power.

Maserati is the overpriced luxury twin of Ferrari, so why not just get a Ferrari?
