Dead tail lights, dash after swap
I have a 98 BB6 MT that recently underwent an H22A JDM swap. Worked great, except some electrical problems cropped up immediately after. The first time I turned my lights on, my dash gage lights blinked then went out. Also, my tail lights are dead (but brake lights still work). Finally, the chime that tells you your lights are still on when they key is removed went out. Not as worried about that.
I looked in both fuse boxes and couldn't find any fuse labeled for lights specifically. I somehow doubt all the bulbs blew simultaneously (although with the dash, they very may well have blown - looked like when a normal bulb blows). Are there ground wires in/around the engine compartment that may not have been hooked up correctly?

First thing I would do is check ALL of the fuses; under the hood and in the driver's side footwell.
Next, check all of the rear tail light bulbs. I one time had a bulb burn out on my old Probe and all of the tail lights stopped working.
Have you tried adjusting the light intensity for the gauge cluster?
Definitely haven't heard of this issue after someone did a swap.

Check all fuses, eh? *shudder* Alright. Will do. The footwell is such a bitch to get too, and so dark...
Yes, I've tried the intensity adjust. That was my first thought, but the whole bright burst of light then nothing makes me think they just blew.
On that, how hard is it to replace gauge bulbs? I'm guessing you have to pull the whole dash apart.

this happened to me once in my 95 honda prelude before, everytime i turned on the corner lights or head lights fuses blew and dash and tail lights all turned off. But my brake lights stiilll worked. I ended up paying some car electrician to check it out it turned out to be a short in one of the wires in the dash. from the fuse box to light switcher

I didn't do the swap - took it to a shop. The only wiring changed I know of was the distributor, as I left the USDM ECU, so some parts had to be converted to OBDII.
I'll look for the plug. Thanks for that.

Turns out it was indeed a fuse. 15A Taillight fuse had been replaced with a 10A fuse, which had blown. Not sure how I missed that the first time around.
Anyway, replaced that, and my running lights, dash lights, and the chime warning all came back - apparently they're all tied together.
Thanks all for your help. Much appreciated.
