Emissions!!!!
Ok so i took my 93 ej1 and the car is completely stock and is in immaculate condition mechanically no ghetto **** so it should have passed easy but it failed because of emissions... when they checked my gas tank they said my NOX and HC ratings were high.... how do i fix this would lucas gasoline additive help? how do i bring my ratings down?
possibly but I actually i got my exhaust done before the inpection because my cat was hollow and my muffler had a hole but i fixed all of that a couple weeks ago... the cat has new bolts on it but it still looks like the old one when i checked i dont know what the exhaust guy did???? it might be the cat but what else could it be?
What were the numbers??? we need numbers.
What was the O2 reading's That will tell you if the cat is bad by a high O2 reading.
Anything above 0.4% during both tests would point to the cat.
I would go ahead and replace the cat and the O2 sensor.
Let me guess HC around 200ppm's and Nox about 2800ppm's
No, the Lucas stuff won't help.

If your timing is so far advanced that you fail on NOx, then you'll get better performance by retarding it. Set it to spec. On the dyno, my particular engine did better at 16 than 18, although most engines do best at the high side of spec. I also had to switch to one step colder plugs because for some reason my NOx were always high and very finnicky depending on where the ignition timing was.
Additives are never a solution, even if they mask the problem enough to get you passed smog. Fix the actual problem. In the end your engine will run better and make more power and get better mileage.
I can't help you with your HC w/out seeing your O2 and CO2. HC can mean you're running rich or you're running so lean that the mixture isn't even igniting and all the unburned fuel is going right out.

Something ( an additive) that can legally lower your emmisions cant be too good for your motor and fuel system.
