Default Heated Mirrors 5th Gen

I'm interested in making some heated mirrors. Anyone know how to go about this? Is it possible? How hard is it to take the SiR folding mirrors apart? I have a remote start that has defrost capabilities, so I figure if I can get these converted, I can tie them into the defrost on the car and let them do their job. Any ideas or suggestions let me know. I have a 97. I called Burco? about them and they start 98+ but guy said mirrors are different shaped.

Look into our Acura counterparts, if any honda has heated mirrors, my guess is those might come stock with it

Any idea if the mirror is the same size? Would I be able to use these on my folding mirrors?

I thought headted mirrors simply blew hot air out onto the back of the mirror. If thats the case couldnt you just tap into your head ducting and channle some of it out into your mirrors?

If thats not how they work, than disreguard this.

no they dont channel anything from the heating ducts. Besides there isnt enough room to run any kind of piping through the opening through the mirror mount areas. Unless you ran a very small diameter tube, and i wouldnt think that would be efficient. It works like your rear defroster. Electrical lines are run through the back of the mirror plate, im sure that you could find some form of electrical wire heater at your local hardware store and rig it up. I guess i still dont see the function behind heated mirrors. And i even live in the upper midwest where snow is guaranteed 4 months of the year.

now heated seats on the other hand.

Ok well I live in Canada and I am VERY VERY happy my car has heated mirrors, they've come in use a lot during our winters. I have a '99 lx coupe so there are definately oem heated mirrors for 6th gens but I'm not sure about the 5th gens or even if the mirrors are different. So yea you should be able to find accord ones instead of lookin into acura parts and others. Good luck with the search.

Heated mirrors work like your window defroster. If they are fogged up or have ice on them, the heat will melt it and allow you to see.

i've never had a problem with ice/snow on my mirrors... just wipe it off before you get in. spend the time/money on heated seats

I plan on getting those to eventually. Katskinz makes a leather kit for the seats and has heaters as well. I was going to buy a CL dash bezel for the buttons, still might, but there is room to put the heated seat switches on each side of the gear shifter.
