Do I have an LSD tranny?
I have searched and searched, but have found nothing concrete about whether or not my B16a SIR II swap has an LSD tranny or not. I paid an extra $200 for an LSD tranny, but don't think I have one...and I don't want to find out after I install the engine/trans. It's an S4C tranny, but it doesn't have LSD stamped on it like the first gen B16's do. I heard you can tell by looking into the case where the half shafts insert, but not sure what to look for. Here are a couple of pictures.

I also received the engine with everything just hacked off, TPS sensor broke (does this happen on every JDM B Series? lol), hydro tranny bleed screw broke off, etc.

I should see the diff's gears in the pictures, and not that bar correct? Basically you can see right through except for that bar down the center.

I bought it from Osaka Japanese Auto Parts Inc. in Canada.
Quick question, is the LSD helical like the ITR? Is it worth the $200 or would an $800 Quaife be better?
Sweet picture, "save as" Hope this post helps others.
Now, I have to take care of business and get this resolved.

whoa... no need for name calling, even though that was a valid question with a short answer... maybe some explanation is in order...
The pin that you see when you look through the axle hole of an open differential is the shaft that the spider gears rotate on. The spider gears are the gears that are free to rotate against the outputs of the differential... they are the reason why when you spin a wheel by hand on your open diff car the opposite wheel spins the other way.
LSDs are designed with either a system of clutches, helical gears, or a viscous coupling and simply don't have that shaft because spider gears are not part of their design.

i still don't understand why anyone at this point is patronizing Osaka. HMO offers perfect swaps and unprecedented customer service!
the plain fact is that Osaka sucks in pretty much any way such a business can suck.

I have to agree...even though I just bought my engine from there, I really wish I didn't. I bought it (really my son did) off from ebay where the seller has a perfect rating...I didn't know it was Osaka until it arrived and it was on the billing. I was very dissapointed with the condition of the engine...especially the harness. I have bought 2 engines both from IAS and they were beyond perfect, this engine was all hacked up. Not one complete hose, or wire on it. It looks to be an okay engine and should run well.
I'm rarely on H-T anymore and should have done more investigation before buying it off ebay. My bad. Anyway, it's been too long and I still don't have a credit from getting the wrong transmission. Maybe today I'll get my refund.

well, you live and you learn, no matter how old ; )
IAS def provides nice stuff; it's just a shame tho because they've bailed out of stocking alot of the swaps anymore. i've called twice in the past couple months inquiring and both times all they had were b18b.
good luck with your case against those thievin' hacks up there!

Either way both sentences would pass a grammar check, to which both conclude the same meaning or point of view however you want to put it?
HEY if your still not convince run the damn sentence though a grammar checker such as MS word or something!
Oh and while were talking of grammar and punctuation shouldn't you start your sentence with a capital letter LOL
i highlighted the mistake!!!!
