Default Any ideas?

Ok basically, I have an 89 honda accord. I have an automatic. When im in park and go to Drive it makes a rattling sound for like 1 second. Like something hit something. This also happens when going back and forth (drive to park)... I was wondering if anyone knew what I needed to buy or to do to stop it.

Also today my car started making a screeching noise. Its a loud noise that can be heard non stop. Ill be going like 20 and it will start the screeching noise, I then tap on the brake and it stops, when I let go it continues. Sometimes it doesn't do it. I wanted to know what to do or buy in that case also.

Thanks for all the help.

The trans is having pressure problems when it makes that "ratchet" noise.
The parking pawl isn't coming all the way off or going into engagement too slow.

Best you can do is change out the trans fluid a couple times. Honda Z-1 ATF is worth the extra $$

The screeching noise might be a brake pad squealer tab rubbing the rotor.
You can pull off the front wheel and check the brake pad thickness
