Default Exhaust questions...

Hi, I have a 94 civic, DX, 1.5...automatic transmission.

I'm thinking of running a 2 inch pipe from the headers to the mufflers....I'm thinking of leaving the stock muffler and the stock headers, so the car don't make a lot of noise...

I already have a custom air intake, do you guys think with the 2 inch pipe running from the headers to the muffler will give the car a great pull......also do you guys recommend me to get a 2 inch pipe or a 2.5 pipe?

Also how much do you guys think a 2 inch pipe will cost?? The guy at the junk yard told me $150 for the pipe....

I don't think you'll get much "pull" with the stock muffler, because of the restrictiveness of the oem canister. Why don't you just look into an ES oval or something to compliment the wider pipes? Otherwise, you probably will see no improvement in performance with 2" piping and a stock peashooter.

Either way, it's a D15B7 Automatic. You shouldn't be aiming for a better pull, because you won't get much of one with any N/A bolt-on's. Just go for a nice sound and look, IMO, and you should be straight .

so you think I should change the muffler too??

But if I change the muffler, don't you think it is going to be making a lot of noise, plus I don't want to get a ticket or be getting stopped by the cops...

also do you think there would be a big difference between a 2 inch pipe and a 2.5 pipe?

Do yourself a favor, and get a manual.

There's nothing more I hate seeing than a noisy four-banger with that hideous automatic gear changing sound..

It makes me shiver.

Honestly, I wouldn't waste my money on an automatic civic, if you want to make it "sound" cool/fast, then just get some axleback.

Check out youtube for some exhaust clips, or the exhaust clip faq in the index.

Oh, sweet! I've been trying to get that guy's thread in the FAQ's for a while now. Didn't know it got in there.

Anywho, there are quieter exhausts that still allow good flow. Just keep looking through, and you'll find some good ones. I personally own a twin-loop exhaust, and love its mellowness. Quiet and smooth.
